Millions affected by drought and conflict in Ethiopia | International Rescue Committee
IRC

More than 800,000 refugees currently live in Ethiopia

Numerous crises — drought, conflict and the economic impacts of the war in Ukraine, and global economic conditions — are straining Ethiopian government resources.

Over 28 million people across the country are in need of humanitarian aid. Unless relief funding in response to the catastrophic drought increases, Ethiopians are at extreme risk of starvation.

In strong partnership with local nonprofit organizations, we distribute cash and basic emergency supplies, including for women and girls, and build and maintain safe water supply systems and sanitation facilities. We also support government partners and community workers in primary health care clinics, construct classrooms and train teachers, and provide livelihoods-related training and job opportunities to youth and at-risk households.

Thank you for supporting the IRC’s life-changing work in Ethiopia and worldwide. Your generous gift will help crisis-affected people survive, recover and rebuild their lives.
